Is it safe to install and use the Bumwash Bidets

Bumwash Bidet is both safe to install and use, since our products conforms to watermark certification to AS/NZS 3718 and installation instructions follows AS/NZS3500.

Things to take note of:
In Australia, the relevant standards are provided under AS/NZS3718, indicate that Bidet systems must have a backflow prevention system to prevent cross contamination from potable water to the drinking water supply.

This is required for all bidet systems since the water spray comes out of a nozzle located inside the toilet bowl and below the toilet level rim. When flushing occurs, the water will likely spray over the nozzle which may cause contamination issues if the water is mixed with faeces or urine.

Without a backflow prevention system, the dirty water can flow back into the water pipes in the case of a low pressure situation (rarely happens - it's when water is being sucked out of the system by fire brigade or council). The dirty water can be trapped in your normal water supply and may affect your drinking water supply.

At Bumwash, we have taken precautions in our product offerings to ensure that your risk to backflow is reduced. The usage of our T-adapter diverter promotes the behaviour of cutting water to the bidet when not in use - thereby preventing backflow issues. Our bidet attachment systems have in-built check valves providing the first line of defence against potential backflow. Additionally, we provide and offer multiple check valve devices to help reduce risk of backflow.

Bumwash does not recommend advice on backflow prevention. Customer should seek advice from plumbers.

Best practice for ensuring safe use of Bidet:
1. Divert water away from bidet when not in use via T-adapter
2. Keep the bidet spray head clean
3. Install a check valve between the T-adapter and bidet hose - for the paranoid.
